Rick Hinderer XM-18 3.5″ SKINNY Slicer
- The classic from Hinderer
- Slicer Grind
- Skinny version
- Magnacut steel
The XM-18 represents, so to speak, the heart of the entire Hinderer product line. You could also say that this tactical folder has been something of a template for countless modern frame-lock folding knives over the past 15 years.
XM-18
This 3.5″ model not only looks absolutely exciting, but proves to be an excellent EDC knife in everyday use. The wonderfully ergonomic handle fits snugly in the hand and allows for safe use of the knife in both fencing and foregrip. Especially users with large to very large hands will appreciate this generous handle.
Through the titanium liners and the handle scales of milled G10, the knife is incredibly robust and can therefore also be taken quite for the somewhat harder tasks.
The opening via the flipper is absolutely effortless and the Framelock locks the knife bombproof. Due to the installed steel insert in the lockbar interface, the knife can continue to be securely closed even after years of use, without the closure wears out. The Lockbar Stabilizer invented by Rick Hinderer ensures that the locking spring can not be overstretched and thus damaged when opening.
Tri-Way Pivot System
You would rather use your knife with ball bearings? Or would you rather use it with nylon washers? No problem. In the sixth generation of the XM-18, Rick Hinderer has introduced the “Tri Way Pivot System.” Here you ve got the option of equipping their knife with the included nylon or bronze washers, or with small ball bearings.
Blade
The blade is the so-called Slicer Grind. Here we have it with a diagonally raised flat grind zutun, which runs out to the tip increasingly finer and thus also makes finer cutting work possible. The special feature is that this skinny version has a slightly thinner blade, which significantly improves the cutting properties of the knife again and noticeably reduces the weight. The typical Hinderer stability remains of course, not on the line. An ingenious feature of all XM-18 knives, are the two thumb pins. These serve primarily as a blade stop, as they rest on the titanium shells when open. This extremely robust construction makes lateral blade play nearly impossible. The steel used here is the Magnacut alloy, which was specially designed for the manufacture of state-of-the-art knives. This steel is not only extremely tough and cutting, but also extremely resistant to rust.
